Support Lakeshore Players
Be a Lakeshore Patron Angel

Angels

DECEMBER 2007

A circle of patron “angels” supports Lakeshore Players Theatre. Their commitment sustains us, touches lives in our community, and sets the stage for the success of our participants, our volunteers, and our audiences.

Won’t you join them? While ticket sales are an important source of revenue for Lakeshore Players, they only cover 66% of expenses. We rely on individual donations to keep our ticket prices low and youth education tuition affordable. To meet our budget for the 55th season now underway, we need to raise $17,000 more from individual contributions. Every contribution benefits Lakeshore Players directly.

Last season, financial support contributed to seven Lakeshore Players productions including old favorites, classic musicals, and premieres of new works. We played to 11,653 attendees at 89 performances, and to hundreds of students at school group matinees. A diverse group of 240 volunteer actors and musicians performed in these shows, including children and senior citizens.

Our volunteer ushers, costume assistants, stage technicians and other backstage helpers numbered over 100. We produced another new play for youth in our annual Summer Youth Project and held after-school acting classes for students in grades 1-12. In the past year, through generous financial support, we were able to completely upgrade our sound system and purchase four listening-assist devices. The devices boost sound from the stage for patrons with mild to moderate hearing loss, and are available at no charge through the box office for use during performances. We also installed lighted safety railings and new, brighter lighting fixtures in the lobby and front entrance.

Lakeshore Players Theatre is a place where dreams come true. But the lack of physical accessibility is a barrier to many in the community. We spent the past 18 months studying ways to modify the existing structure, and strongly considered building an exterior ramp. But we’ve had to conclude that a ramp is simply not practical, and have gone back to the drawing board. A 2006 architectural study found so many deficiencies in our historic building that an accessibility upgrade to the existing structure is not feasible. We’ve determined it’s time to begin working on the dream of constructing an accessible addition on the building’s south side, which would include a street level entrance, an elevator, a spacious lobby, box office, additional rest rooms and classrooms.

We realize that such a project will require an immense amount of time and resources to complete. You can help make this dream come true. We need not only your financial support, but also your ideas and talents. Great theater in our community doesn’t just happen. Our community makes it happen. In everything we do, we depend on you. So please take a moment to contribute to Lakeshore Players and join our circle of angel supporters with as generous a contribution as you can afford. Community theater this good is worth your angelic support.

Thank you.
